'Woman Without A Face' to speak at FSU about domestic violence
The Florida State University College of Social Work’s Institute for Family Violence Studies and the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council (DVCC) is sponsoring “An Evening with Carolyn Thomas — The Woman Without A Face” on April 21.
Thomas, a domestic violence survivor who was shot in the face at point-blank range in 2003, will share her story of perseverance, courage and community co-operation in the effort to end domestic violence. Her story has been featured on “Oprah,” “Larry King Live” and in other media.
In addition to Thomas’ talk, the event includes dinner, a complimentary wine reception and a silent auction to benefit the DVCC, a non-profit domestic violence task force staffed by volunteers. Tickets are $40 each. For tickets or information, call April Hofmeister at 606-6116 or Michelle Johnson at 414-3384 or email DVCCTally@gmail.com.
