Fun for the family: a science & arts fair at Kleman Plaza
In conjunction with this month’s Origins ’10: Celebrating the Birth & Life of Beginnings science series at The Florida State University, a day-long Science & Arts Fair will feature dozens of exhibits, live demonstrations and fun activities for the whole family. The fair, which is free and open to the public, will be held:
SATURDAY, APRIL 10
10 A.M. – 4 P.M.
KLEMAN PLAZA, NORTH END
DOWNTOWN TALLAHASSEE
Academic programs from Florida State, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College will be highlighted in the fair. Among other things, visitors will get to see a working robot, courtesy of the FSU Department of Physics; stargaze with the Tallahassee Astronomical Society; examine an aerial, unmanned vehicle from Florida State’s High-Performance Materials Institute; and study fossils and primitive tools courtesy of the university’s Department of Anthropology.
The Science & Arts Fair also will see a rollicking live performance by the FAMU/FSU Jazz Sextet, featuring Longineau Parsons on trumpet, Bill Peterson on keyboards, Barry Stephenson on bass, Ricardo Pascal on tenor sax, Leon Anderson on drummers and Avis Berry on vocals.
