Center for Global Engagement to host 'A Turkish Evening'

The Florida State University Center for Global Engagement, formerly the International Center, will host “A Turkish Evening,” the fifth annual event in its Cultural Dinner Series. The dinner series serves as a fundraiser to help establish an endowment to fund scholarships for international students.

“A Turkish Evening” will take place:

THURSDAY, APRIL 15

6 P.M. (RECEPTION)

7 P.M. (DINNER)

FSU CENTER FOR GLOBAL AND MULTICULTURAL ENGAGEMENT

110 S. WOODWARD AVE.

TALLAHASSEE, FLA.

The 6 p.m. reception will feature a variety of Turkish appetizers, live traditional Turkish music, and a cash wine bar. Guests can enjoy an authentic Turkish art display in the Reflections Art Gallery, located in the new Center for Global and Multicultural Engagement within the Division of Student Affairs. In addition, the Center’s new Turkish conference room, in which all furnishings were brought from Turkey, will be dedicated.

The four-course dinner will be prepared by a Turkish chef. The menu will include red lentil soup, assorted Turkish salads, stuffed eggplant (a vegetarian option is available), rice with carrots, vegetables and several Turkish breads, with baklava and a traditional Turkish cake available for dessert. The dinner will be served by student interns from Florida State’s Dedman School of Hospitality.

Reservations and donations can be made at http://tinyurl.com/ydy7rh5. A donation of $50 per person is suggested.

The Cultural Dinner Series provides the Florida State campus and local community with the opportunity to experience the varied cultures of the university’s international student population through special evenings filled with cuisine, music, art and conversation.
