Florida State Parents' Weekend Welcomes Families to the Campus

Parents will converge by the thousands on Florida State University’s campus during the weekend of Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10, for the annual Parents’ Weekend. Students can introduce their parents to the campus through numerous events throughout the weekend.

“We hope that parents and their families are able to join their student Seminoles so that their students can show off the campus that they have quickly grown fond of,” said Mark Striffler, chair of Parents’ Weekend Committee. “Come join us for the fun.”

The schedule of events includes:

Friday, Oct. 9

  • 8:30 a.m. -- 6th annual Alumni Golf Invitational
  • 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. -- “Art in Low Places”: Sidewalk Chalk Competition
  • 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. -- Check-In and Registration at Oglesby Union
  • Noon – 4 p.m. -- Educational Sessions, Programs and Activities
  • 4 – 4:30 p.m. -- Family Connection General Meeting
  • 4:45 – 5 p.m. -- President’s Address to Parents in Moore Auditorium
  • 5 – 8:30 p.m. -- Picnic on Union Green
  • 6 – 8 p.m. -- Turner/Rollin Juried Show Open Reception
  • 6 and 8:45 p.m. -- Flying High Circus Performance and Pep Rally (2 shows)
  • 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. -- Late Night Programming

Saturday, Oct. 10

  • 6:30 – 7:15 a.m. -- Late Registration for 5K Fun Run/Walk
  • 7:30 – 9 a.m. -- 5K Fun Run/Walk
  • 9 a.m. – Noon -- Tailgate Brunch Buffet on Union Green
  • 8 p.m. -- Kickoff: FSU vs. Georgia Tech
