Luncheon honors Jacksonville military caregivers

The Florida State University College of Social Work hosted a Military Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon on April 7 at Epping Forest Yacht Club in Jacksonville, Fla., to offer support to caregivers and to inform them about the services available through the Operation Family Caregiver program.

The Jacksonville luncheon was the third in the Military Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon series that the college is providing throughout the state.

Attendees of the event learned about the free, confidential services the OFC program provides to caregivers of military service members and veterans through its Tallahassee location on the Florida State University campus. Program Manager Margaret Ashmore and Caregiver Coach Wendy Turney presented an overview of the Tallahassee program. College of Social Work Dean Jim Clark spoke at the event to honor the luncheon caregiver guests and recognize their hard work and dedication.

The FSU College of Social Work, in partnership with the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving, houses a branch of the Operation Family Caregiver Program at Florida State University that provides services all over the Southeastern region of the United States. With the support of FSU President John Thrasher, the luncheon series will continue through 2016 with visits to other Florida cities including: Panama City and Pensacola.
