In 1962, Air Force Captain Walter Smith was chosen to take part in a special year-long MBA program at Florida State University that focused on innovative research and development. In the years following, he gave the final "go" on the Gemini rocket missions, designed a GPS guidance system for bombs still in use today, and had a successful house building career all the while.
